I removed the plug in my 2014 498RR last night using this method. I was concerned about torquing the new plug (NGK Laser Iridium LKAR8AI-9) correctly, so I used an angle grinder to reduce a 10mm 1/4" socket hex to a 9mm hex. Then, I used my new 2-24 NM torque wrench (
http://a.co/hL8KqY4) to torque it to 17 nm per service manual. The homemade 9mm socket hex was firmly stuck in the Beta tool, so I just put it back in the little tool bag like that and stuck it back in the bike. Bike fired right up.
