If you work for a business that ships common carrier and receives decent discounts, you should be able to ship it for $200 or less, if you crate it.
I ship quiet a few bikes from Minnesota to the west, go to any new street bike dealer and they'll be glad to let you haul a crate out of the pile, Ducati crates have worked the best for me, but the jap crates will work also if you can find all the pieces in the crate junk pile.
Unless you have another business with a loading dock and normal hours at the other end, you can ship terminal to terminal, which means you drop off at your terminal and you pick it up at the nearest terminal to your destination, PA to CA would be about a five day haul and be aware that once it arrives you generally have three days to pick it up and you'll start paying an eye opening storage fee for every day they have to work around your baby.
I've used R & L, SAIA and a few others, FedEx freight will be slightly higher cost but usually is a couple days faster than the others.
If your making a permanent move you can also pack other junk in the crate as long as it's all contained, your cost is determined by the weight and anything 400 lbs. & under is a flat rate with most carriers.
