skid plate question, vented??

What skids are you all using, how are they working?? looking at the hd vented alum beta at a dealer and wondering for the rocks I go over, pointy and rough, would the tons of small holes act like a anti-skid and hang me up? Setting up a 350rr in the next week..

I purchased an Enduro Engineering skid plate for my 500rs. It has vents and the fit was good, check it out. So far I haven't had any issues.

I could be wrong but that skid plate looks more like a Devol. There is another aluminum plate on the last page that looks more Enduro Engineering. The venting is more important on a 2T because the crankcase is part of the intake tract and not cooled by a forced oil flow.

Its not devol, or at least not like the devol I got, and sent back for my ktm. The devol plates are thin, very thin. this was thick but with all those holes I could see it grinding to a stop on rough rocks or trees.

Anybody try the moose skid plate? 6mm HDPE. looks like better coverage than the TM skid and thicker than the Hyde? not sure how thick the hyde is but the picks look thin as hell??

Hyde is a little thin. Edges tend to split when pinched on rocks but it takes awhile. I'd pad the frame tubes under it though as I've had a few flat spots on my GGs. Not sure about the 4stroke plates but the Beta 2stroke plates are from Ricochet Racing. Had one before the Force and it was thick. Plastic plates are slick when wet. They can slide off a stand or if you get hung on a big log on an off camper you will slide sideways.

I have a ricochet on mine and it's stood up to three years of abuse so far.
I would highly recommend the fastway linkage guard as well. It's pricey, but worth the money in my opinion.

And btw, glad to you drank the Red Koolaid this time around!

The Fastways now have replacable (seems like HDPE) slider pads. About $15 from PMB.

I may just get the full vented skid since its there in stock and all. If I don't like it I'm sure I can sell it. I'm thinking of going to a slavens link guard. It's not bad price, and looks well made. I'd probably go PBR later on but so much to buy at one time. That's why it's so much easier to keep buying same brand bikes. Always something fits on the new bike.
