Radiator Guards

Postby Volryder » Tue Feb 25, 2014 7:10 am

I think I'm down to my last key protection component. I've seen Scorpion guards but just saw Bulletproof Design's (BPD) guard. Any opinions on rad guards for the 300rr?

I'll be adding a fin guard, but they all look CNC machined, so I'd guess all about the same quality. Did some riding on our property last weekend and really enjoying being on a 2T and picking my way thru tight stuff vs what I had to do with my 450. Cheers

I had the BPD on my KTM 300. Of all the ones I have used through the years they were the best.

The Scorpion braces are very strong, had them on my GG. Plus, you can get the add on grills for them if you need front protection. If they (Emperor now) have Beta stuff thats the easiest and strongest way to go. I have the plusoneperformance braces Steve(twowheels) makes up, with an additional reinforcement/adapter side plate to mount a set of Scorpion GG grills (which I need). I don't get the hype about the BPD stuff. Very $$ and the side of the rad is unprotected. Unless they have changed its like a thick cap on the front. Thats good if you fall on a smooth log, but an uneven rock? Around here I like the toughest cage type brace I can get, even if it does add a lb.

Just got an email back from BPD and they don't have a rad guard for the Beta yet. I saw the Scorpions also on a GG and they looked strong. Sorry, I'm having a hard time googling plusoneperformance or twowheels.

Here you go: http://www.afterhourscycle.com/ I did not find pics of the braces, but twowheels is his screen name here on this forum and could probably send you pics or maybe even post here which would be a help to all of us.

Ah... I've read some of twowheels posts over on GG Riders and here. Can't figure out who PlusOnePerformance or where After Hours get the parts from. But thanks for the link to After Hours, they support our hobby and bikes. Sure like to see pics of the Plusone before I pull the trigger.

Sorry I should have been more clear. Steve is a Beta/GG dealer and suspension tuner who made up the braces. "PlusOnePerformance" is the suspension business, "AfterHoursCycle" is the dealer part of the same business. Think I got that right. Just PM "twowheels" here. You won't find pics on the site they are limited quantity.

I have a set of these French made Meca Systems braces. They are a tight fit but very strong, especially with the brace bar across the back. I have dropped the bike flat onto the side of the brace on rock with no damage at all.

Nice Hubert. I like the looks of those and sounds like you've "tested" them. And I can tell my wife and friends their from France! Checking on a U.S. distributor. Thanks
