High idle

Postby POP » Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:46 am

My second ride on my 2019 xt the idle increases almost like I'm twisting the gas even when clutch is pulled in only on down hill and steep turns at slow speed. Any reasons ? Is the throttle cable in a bind ?

Could be the cable, jetting, or interference between throttle grip and wrap around hand guards if installed.

Have you adjusted the idle mixture? Could be lean- that can cause that sort of thing.

Of course make sure the idle doesn’t change when you move bars lock to lock etc.

my 19 500rrs does same I have been told can be dirt in the throttle body possibly, but I,m thinking its more like the bike may be thinking its running rich so it runs liner for a moment.

Its intermittent not all the time.

Same thing is does right before it runs out of gas when the valve is in the off position. I would check the float adjustment and make sure there is enough gas in the bowl, sounds like it's starving when tilted.
