Beta 390 highway

Postby Patric2000 » Tue Mar 17, 2020 12:13 am

Hey i wonder how the Beta 390 handles on highway? Can it cruise a little faster than the 350's? Beta 350 Exc 350, Fe 350.

I know that the 350's can do it at 70 mph etc, can the 390 handle 10mph more = 80 mph?

Dont want no, "my beta is comfarteble at 45 mph max" answers, thx and godbless !

I have a 500 with dirt and street setups, geared appropriately. 390 has same transmission gearing. 80 is doable with street setup, but not much fun for more than short periods. It will probably do over 100 with this setup, but generally comfortable at about 70, with burst to pass or straights connecting turns do I get up to 80. That is fun, but a lot different than sustained 80mph. I have a Tiger for sustained 80mph, and that is it's place.

Everyone wants a 390 for single track. If you can have only one bike, then I would recommend a 500, but not for sustained 80mph

I swap wheels around between my 300 and 390. My last dirt set up was 13/50 and I had a short freeway run on my 390. It def didn't like it. I think the best dualsport gearing for me is 14/49. the 390 still has enough grunt to do single track and handle roads better. But still do not think it will like 80mph. I think you could probably sprint up to 80 but I would not sustain that speed

My dirt setup is 14/49, street is 14/45 on my 500. Both are a compromise I can live with. With dirt setup, the bike and I like to stay below 65mph. With street setup, 70-75 is fairly comfortable on motor revs.

Omg its like you read my mind, nice that u have a 500 and yeah they got the same transmissions gearing. Thats excatly what i want to do, drive 60-70 mph and if there is a situation, i go to 80 mph to pass cars etc just like you said. No more than 1 minute at 80 mph speed unless someone chases me.
500 nice but to much for a first motorcycle for me, 390 will be Good :) since i will use it to explore forrests, single tracks etc
So freaking awesome this thank you!

make sure you balance your wheels. even at 50 my wheels were hopping off the pavement until I balanced them

+1 on this. Once balanced first time, haven't had to rebalance with different make/models of tires for 3+ years. If I remember right, like 4 ounces on rear opposite shrader valve/rimlock, and 3 on front opposite shrader/rimlock.

My 2 month old 2020 390 RR-S did 71mph totally stock. It was NOT COMFORTABLE! I would not want to do it for very long at all. CAN it do it? Yes. Do I want to do that for a long period of time? NO!

The nobbies are horrific at that speed. Wheels aren't balanced. Light bike + cross winds = SUCK!
