Thinking of trying a beta.

I have a 2011 ktm 300xcw. Thinking about every kind of bike to upgrade my ride. I do hard enduro single track, also some fire road riding and take a trip to mohab most every year.

I have never rode a beta, but very interested in trying one. But concerned the ergos may not work for me? I am 5ft 10 inch with very tall torso and 30 inch inseam, i set up my ktm with lower footpegs and higher handlebars.

I really like the carburetor over fuel injection option, also the kick start.

My main options are a ktm 300 xcw of whatever year, from 2014 to about 2023. Or a beta 300rr from around 2020 to 2024. Think i want a 300rr race edition and tune downward the suspension for my slower riding as I am a B rider.

I wonder how the newer fuel injected ktm 300 xcw compares to the newer 300rr betas. As in the difference between them, also for 2014 to 2017, 300 xcw carburetor bikes.

Any insight will be appreciated, thanks.

I think you'll like them, I'm 6' with a 32" inseam.

I prefer the beta seat height over the taller ktm's.

My 17 300rr has been pretty bulletproof, aside from premature suspension wear and tear.

On paper beta seems exactly what I want. Shall see.

I have been reading about Sherco having very different ergonomics as compared to ktm etc. I wonder if beta feels more like a ktm or a Sherco in egonomics?

Your current ride is about as tall a seat height as it gets.

I'm the same height, Beta's were made for us.

Trying to be patient and wait for the demo day in march. I have a possibility of getting a 2018 ktm 300 xcw with carburetor and kick start. If not, going to suck it up and wait until after demo day.

I suppose i will be most happy long term with 300 race edition and soften up the suspension for my non race speed and rough slick trails in my area.

The 2018 XCW is an excellent bike. I own one as well. It is the last year of the carb’d XCW’s. However, unless the previous owner removed the deathtrap called the XPlor suspension, you will be dropping money into replacing the front end. And even after that, it will not be as good as the KYB set up on a new 300 RE.

In case you can't find a race edition: I've been very happy with my 300RR After Hours Cycle re-worked suspension. From your initial post it looks like we ride similar terrain.

Since you are in Wa State - at least by your handle, I would suggest LT-Racing.com - he is in Port Orchard, WA.
