Update.

I got a deal on a 2018 ktm 300 xcw. The bike has 120 hours, but somewhat beat up and neglected. But got a fairly good buy on it. Normally I like to spend a bit more for better condition.

In any case it is the last year of the ktm 300 xcw carburetor bikes. So I got a unicorn with a kick starter to boot. Plan to put on smart carburetor someday, USA made carburetor gives me a warm fuzzy.

Plan to totally fix it up , including aftermarket suspension in time. I figure the upgraded chassis, less vibration etc. Is worth the effort, and it feels good riding, now to practice.

Still going to try out the beta 300 rr. Wife is going to try the xtrainer.
I may still get a beta 300rr in the future, depending on test ride feel etc.

Thanks all

You will love it once you fix the suspension. There is nothing wrong with the Mikuni. Get a JD Kit, as well as the fix for the Jet Block gasket, and you will be set. Enjoy - the 2018 is the best XCW KTM ever produced (ignoring the junk front end).
