So sell me on a beta

Postby FatandSlow » Sun Oct 05, 2014 3:28 pm

I have owned 5 or 6 KTM's now, currently riding a 350 xcfw. Although the bike does everything I ask of it I find it boring to ride. Been contemplating going back to a 2 stroke and I think I may be ready to stop bleeding orange and try something else. I am a single track gnarly weekend warrior that may run a few local NW XC events next year and the 300 sounds like a good bike. So gimme the pros and cons of a Beta 300rr compared to the KTM 300 xcw.

Thanks

I like you come from a long history of KTM's (380's, multiple 300's, some 450's, a 505). I know the KTM 2 strokes very well.

The only con I have been able to come up with after riding my Beta 300 for almost a year is that the lower ground clearance can be an annoyance sometimes. Otherwise there is no comparison for the type for riding you do. Get the 300 and you will be saying "where have you been all my life".

You will probably need to get the suspension setup for you but I had to do that for most of my KTM's anyway.

Trust me on this one.

Oh and I just completed my second race on my 300 yesterday and after that my KTM 450 may be up for sale. I have a hard time coming up with a reason to keep it.

I wanted a 300, i was torn between the KTM and the BETA. The electric start is what swayed me, after reading all the horror storys on the KTM starter. Really, everything else can be changed to suit your type of riding on any bike but a bad design flaw like on the KTM would have pissed me off. Plus the BETA just looks better.
