Not looking good for my 2015 300rr

Postby Willis7864 » Fri Dec 19, 2014 4:54 pm

Had my new 300 6 days ago had a little ride yesturday so went to change gearbox oil.bike has done 2.3 hours. Took drain plug out and there was big pits of metal stuck to the magnet about 6 differ size pieces. Any idea what this could be or has any one had any problems.bike was running sweet when I stopped it.not happy as you pay big money not to have these problems.the bike will have to be split to find what's gone wrong.it will never be the same again once it has been split.wound have the same look on the bike.would lie a bran new bike as this one has only done 2 hours.where do I stand

Sorry to hear that. Did you keep the chunks? I would contact my dealer first with the chunks. Hope it'll turned out for you.

There is a warranty, get the ball rolling and contact the dealer. And ride the bike, if it comes apart your case is obvious. Mine has been exceptionally clean with oil, more so than any other bike I've had. Definitely something very wrong.

Did you take a picture? Are talking about big pieces or metal shavings?

The pieces are around the size of you small finger nail,

Spoke to dealer they want me to take the engine out myself and sent it back to them,as they are a 5 hour drive each way from me,they are going to split the motor to see what's wrong repair it and send it back,
I'm not happy that I've bought a bran new bike and with only 2.3 hours of running time something is wrong, dew to my exprerance one you split a motor it is never the same again reliability is never the same, want a new bike in exchange as this bike has done nothing, dealer won't have it,anybody now what's rights I have here

Where does this come from? I have split hundreds of engines from large to small and have never seen any evidence of this. Most times it's just the opposite I find things before there is a problem.
I understand that you spend good money on it but it really is not a big deal. 2 stokes are super simple and easily repaired.

Same here. I took a tour of the KTM factory a few years back and the way they slap the motors together made me cringe. I would feel much better about a motor that I have split and then carefully assembled than an assembly line build.

In my opinion the dealer should give you a whole new bike. With 2 hours the rest of the bike should be like new. They can fix the engine at their leisure and then use it as a demo or sell it as a slightly used bike. Either way you shouldn't be required to be without a bike for weeks or months while they sort it out.

I would be talking to American Beta if my dealer gave me the response you got. Beta is a great company but they can not afford to have this type of problem and then not take 100% care of the customer. My 2 cents.
