I agree. Brand new bike. Who's your dealer? Please keep us up to date on this?

I'll split the difference. Like Hammer and Enmerdeur I have split and rebuilt many motors. If it's done right it's absolutely fine. If your dealer is a hack then that's another matter, but I have no idea. I say try to get another motor, easier than dealing with a new bike and you might have the bike set up already. Other than that, I would think you could have any authorized Beta dealer do the work. If it comes down to a repair, and you don't trust your dealer, ask twowheels (Steve) if he does warranty work.

Freak failure, first actually that's been documented. Reliability has been exceptional across the population of 2stroke bikes since the begining.

Warranty situation could be different in the UK. I think asking for a complete new motorcycle is a bit greedy on the consumers part. It would be great if it were to happen but I wouldn't ask or expect it. A new complete engine would seem fair and I'd expect Beta would want the untouched engine back for analysis. Id want to do the engine swap myself too, one, because I can and second because I would do a better job then some high school kid that cares more about his paycheck than how happy my weekends in the woods are let alone maintaining his boss's shops reputation.

Willis' anger is understandable though and I hope it all works out.

It's a bummer this happened to a new bike but splitting the gearbox on a 2T and replacing a shredded bearing is fairly simple as long as nothing else got damaged. Not likely you'll get a new bike or motor.

If this is in the UK then it's difficult to be 5 hours drive away without being at opposite ends of the country.

UK legistation contains "Not fit for the intended use" content so grounds for a refund or replacement are good. Also, the contract of sale is with the dealer so it is their responsibility to sort the problem at their total expense. I would speak to the UK importer, John Lampkin, he is a decent bloke and will contact the dealership.

Hi yes lads I do live in the uk. And I live in South Wales .dealer in Norfolk which from me is the oppesite of the country. I am bitter at the min as most if you would be.havnt had a bran new bike for over 15 years. To get excited to have one then find a problem after 2 hours has really to the shine off it. Yes it could be something simble but the engine will have to be totally striped to find out.im sorry but that's me the bike will now feel to me as if it's 12 month old.if it can't last 3 hours from the factory what confidence have I got it will last months years after joe bloggs has had his hands on it

Not sure about UK but in the US you do not have to take a bike back to the original dealer for warranty work. Is there not a closer dealer?

Steve Plain in Llandrindod Wells knows more about Betas in the UK than probably anyone and the Edmondsons are in Cannock, both much easier to get to for you.

John Lampkin is a top bloke and won't want his customers this badly pissed off. I had a problem with the dealer I bought mine from and he gave me excellent support.

I'm sure that he will sort it for you to get the bike sorted closer to home.
