Hi every one. Im a newbie from the UK, south wales area. No UK forum as of yet. Hoping to pick my2015 300rr up next week. Its pre reg with 20hrs on it. Just sold my 2007 ktm 300 exc. Cant wait to get out on new bike as all the reviews are excellent for the beta range of bikes.

Congrats on the new bike, I'm still waiting for mine. No delivery date yet. What's the riding like in your back yard?

Hi mate. Its pritty good to be honest. We got a mix of everything long trails, rocky, wooded and plenty of bogs and mud. How about you. Hows the riding where you are.

Talk to Brokenlegs about your suspension. He has the answers for getting it all working OK.

The Sachs forks are a dead loss as standard for UK riding but the shocks are fine if you keep an eye on the gas pressure. It leaks down and needs topping up every few months.

I was talking to Brokenlegs at the Fast Eddy at Tong last week and he is helping Aled Humphries (Al-humph on KTM forum) with his 300RR. He was going really well before a bust chain on Sunday and his suspension was working really well.

Here in New Jersey it's flat with lots of sand, some hard pack and good bit of tight trail. We also have mountains and rocks not but 2 hours away. Probably a lot of the same as you, maybe not so many bogs though. Can't wait to my new bike out there.

Picking it up from steve plains, llandrindod wells. Not to far from me about 1hr drive. what is it i need to do to the suspension. Change springs or just general set up?

I thought that Llandod was probably best for you.

A lot of 2nd handers from Steve Plain have done some racing as he has a number of supported riders so some mods may have been done already. The 14s are very soft and don't track well from new and definately need firmer springs at the front, perhaps at the back depending on your weight. The suspension was updated for the 15s so some of this may have been improved.

Most of the Betas at Tong had different forks (wp or kyb) or different internals. Steve knows more about Betas in the UK than probably anyone else including the importers so he's a good place to start.

The "KYB Conversion" thread on here is one of the longest running there is so lots of info and opinions in there. Well worth a read.

When i was talking to steve he was saying he had some input to the new betas. They asked him apparantly which bikes to develope and that. The bike im supposed to be buying is steves own bike.

Me and my mates had many debate on buying a used bike. At end of day you will never know what the bike has been through when buying 2nd hand unless its off a mate who bought it brand new or something like that. I wuld of thought if buying any bike from some 1 who races then it would be well looked after mechanically. He seems genuine enough only met him once when we went there to pick up a brand new 1 off him other week. Hes knighters mechanic he was telling usand has known nighter since he was a young boy and supported him.

I will ask him about suspension when i see him this week. thanks for info.
