Went riding with a buddy yesterday and this is what he shows up with, it's an '84 Husky frame with '89 KX forks and a Zero motor and battery, he built it himself and is very fast in the woods on it.

Congrats to your buddy for making such a cool Franken-bike. It may look rough but I bet everyone here wishes they had one after seeing it...

And that is the reason I do not wish I had one.
I'm still waiting for KTM to bring the real Freeride to the US market.

About two hours, he keeps a second battery in his truck.

Wonder what kind of torque that thing makes and how it would be in mountainous terrain. Looks like an awesome toy.

It accelerates about like a 450, mountain riding at high altitude doesn't affect power and we rode tight single track that day, it did great, definitely rides better than it looks.

Freaking cool. Did he go out of his way to make it look bad? Graphics by Sharpie? He has to have a pretty good budget to pull that off. I have always preferred conventional forks. He is showing that the tech is here now. I bet it is low 200 lbs too?

Ha, probably had a few beers when he was celebrating the projects completion. Surprisingly it weighs 245lbs. but he says it feels lighter than a fueled up 450 and handles tight woods better too.
