Postby betajuice » Tue Sep 15, 2015 2:56 am

we actually came up with 20 ways but figured ten was an easier number to remember: https://youtu.be/XkX4dCpzxgk

18 months of learning this stuff, still haven't got the zap technique working but doing okay on the rest woohoo!

Nice summary.
You've become very good at this video stuff. Are you still considering a 'feature length' project?

Here's one I really liked. It's in French. Full dvd used to be on YouTube, but I can't find it now.

This one seems well made, but I haven't seen it yet.

thanks balkan one, i think we are getting reasonable quality from just hand holding a gopro and only putting a limited amount of time into filming and editing. those samples are very polished and i'd get driven crazy by the time taken to film and edit that well, plus lugging huge cameras around!

heaps of guys have been saying i should start putting ads on the vids, or selling the vids, or letting them make donations etc but don't really want to do any of that, it's all just about putting something back into the riding community.

a fair few discussions behind the scenes with some youtube subscribers and came up with a compromise.... here and there i'll just do an occasional non-training comedy vid for download by anyone who wants to make a small donation. if it works i might even be able to ditch the part time job and do more vids. :)

lol it's funny how it's pretty normal to drive for 60 to 90 mins just to go for a swim at the beach but that could take us over three international boundaries in europe. :)

first detailed vid in the log hopping series - body positioning and the slapper technique: https://youtu.be/4Ea0LUAERi8

of course a vid will only help to a certain point and it's not a substitute for good coaching. so i'll get a plug in here for chris brich who coaches us and kindly agreed to appear in some of these vids. he was the top extreme enduro rider back in 2010 and has been coaching since then, he flies worldwide spreading the love... his website is here: http://chrisbirch.co.nz/

there comes a very sad time where just because a videographer gets five million totally undeserved views on his channel he thinks his advice must be gold-plated brilliance and starts spouting rubbish on all sorts of topics other than dodgy riding techniques.

this, sadly, is one of those vids.

second video in the log hopping series. this is mostly a rehash of stuff already covered but figured it was good to get a consistent approach to the 10 main techniques for getting over logs.

i must admit the vast majority of riders can get over the vast majority of logs with just one or two techniques, usually the one where you punch the log, and the wheelie over and let the skidplate carry you over. i think this series is helpful if you like to have a lot of techniques to choose from because there are certainly plenty of situations where the punch or skidplate technique won't work too well.

GRAHAM JARVIS: stunts & tricks from his Facebook page: https://youtu.be/G-vMsAVjaoY

bit of a mash up of the latest vids on graham jarvis' facebook page. as usual he is being annoyingly talented here and setting the bar a tad high for us old fogeys. any time are are feeling mildly competent we can watch this sort of thing to completely demoralize ourselves again LOL!
