Here in the other LA (lower Alabama), I can count on 2 fingers the number of people I know with a trials bike. No good places to ride within a few hundred miles, and the terrain here is relatively flat and sandy. Competitions are also hundreds of miles away. Not many places to ride dirt bikes either - again a long drive. So I recently purchased 34 acres about 5 mies from my house purely to create a place for myself, my kids, grandkids and friends to ride. I've created a large perimeter loop that's about 2-1/2 miles long, has a mix of open trail, some tight single track in the woods and grown over areas, bridges across the creeks and a trials obstacle area, trying as much as possible to put more natural types of obstacles (rocks, trees, etc). I purchased a tractor with a mower, front end loader and grapple to help me build and maintain my areas.
Anyway, I thought I'd start a thread here to give us a place to share ideas for our back yard obstacles.
I'll start adding pics of a few of mine, and would love to get additional ideas.
This first on is a 5' rock pulled from the bottom of a nearby river. Rocks aren't very often found here. I dug a trench along the side of a hill and propped it up such that it rises about 4' high, then backfilled behind it and capped the top with some additional rocks. I can use this for splatters, decent practice, double blips, etc.
